La beauté du lotus

On a night when the ocean mirrored the moon and the crickets played their tune
A night where the trees danced gracefully to the tempo of the wind
With an elegance that puts the night sky to shame
And grace that surpasses that of even the most poised
Emerges a queen submerged for way too long
From murky waters did she rise
The lotus flower, the actual creme de la creme

Explanation….

The tale of the lotus is a tale as old as time itself, a story you’ve probably heard a few thousand times. As a child I was told to be as resilient as the lotus that grows in swampy waters and bears fragile roots but still blooms beautifully. I was constantly reminded to be a delicate queen with a tough spine just like the lotus but what if that’s not all the lotus has to offer? How come I was never told to “bloom where I’m planted” in respect to the lotus flower?

Hear me out before you roll your eyes..

The lotus flower doesn’t possess sturdy roots; not like most plants neither does she have a supporting system like climbing plants but she blooms regardless. Granted our creator must’ve sprinkled a little more glitter in her roots but that’s a tale for her to tell. It would’ve been just as easy for her to resign to her fate and decide not to bloom at all, after all there’s no fertile ground for her to show forth her prowess and that’s excuse enough but she chose instead to take her shortcomings and create magic out of her situation. A magic that’s unlike any other so if the lotus could decide to bloom where she was planted and produce the most beautiful petals, honey what’s your excuse?

The lotus flower is as beautiful as it is diverse and this is only my take so do well to share your favourite lotus quote with me in the comment section xx

Have a beautiful day and remember that there’s strength in vulnerability❤
